Red Bull is much more than a soft drink, it is an energy drink. It was made for moments of increased physical and mental stress and it improves endurance, alertness, concentration, and reaction speed. In short, it vitalizes body and mind. Founded in 1984 by Dietrich Mateschitz, the product hit the Austrian market in 1987 as the world’s first energy drink.

A decade later it reached the shores of America. Today, over 2.5 billion cans are sold annually in over 130 countries around the globe. Instrumental in Red Bull’s success is its active support of action and adventure sports, music, culture and motorsports. Red Bull then announced it was forming its own NASCAR NEXTEL Cup team – Team Red Bull, which officially entered the 2007 season fielding Toyotas for the manufacturer’s initial foray into the world’s most competitive motorsports series. Team Red Bull scored a major coup by signing “veteran” 23 year-old stock car ace Brian Vickers, NASCAR’s youngest-ever champion, to drive the 83 Red Bull Camrys, then convinced 24 year-old open-wheel standout AJ Allmendinger to switch to stock cars and wheel the 84 Red Bull Camry. Led by an impressive leadership group including VP/General Manager Marty Gaunt, VP-Competition Guenther Steiner, Director of Competition Elton Sawyer and Technical Director John Probst, Team Red Bull is on the charge!

In January of 2006, Red Bull announced the formation of a new NASCAR stock car racing team to compete on the premier NEXTEL Cup series starting in 2007. The sponsor-owned team, based in Mooresville, NC, will field two Toyota Camry entries: No. 83 driven by Brian Vickers, the 2003 Busch Series champion, and No. 84 driven by AJ Allmendinger, a rising star from the open-wheel Champ Car World Series.

NASCAR team ownership is a logical continuation of Red Bull’s long-time enthusiasm for global motorsport, which includes recent ownership acquisition of two Formula One teams, event or athlete support within open-wheel, off-road, sports car, rally, supercross, motocross, road racing, supermoto and air racing.
